Our Story

Handmade for you and your friend

mission

The Jack Ellis Company creates high-quality, unique pieces of handcrafted furniture and accessories designed to be handed down from generation to generation. We design and build
one-of-a-kind furniture by re-using, recycling, reclaiming and repurposing salvaged wood and other materials.

history & inspiration

Founded in 2013 by Michael Gokey and Whitney Wolf, our shop is located in the Rail Arts District in Avondale Estates, Georgia. We named the company after our firstborn sons, Jack and Ellis, who have inspired us to build something that lasts.

Our collective past experiences as artist, craftsman and editor inform the aesthetic of our designs, which are simultaneously classic and fresh, and modern and rustic.  We draw inspiration from a rugged gentleman quality, an appreciation for a good cocktail, and the sophisticated marriage of sleek minimalism with warm natural materials. Most importantly...

...Our furniture carries the history of its past with it.

100% made in america

Our work is a tribute to the American craftsman. Based right outside of Atlanta, Georgia, our furniture is sourced, designed, and produced locally, thus having a smaller financial and environmental impact. We are proud to provide top quality, American-made  products at fair prices.

QUALITY

We control every aspect of production — from milling and drying lumber to casting metal — at our workshop in Georgia. This means that we are able to control and correct the quality of each and every piece of furniture we create.

I can’t thank Whitney and Michael enough for my gorgeous kitchen table. They were able to reclaim wood from my grandfather’s farm and transform it into a gorgeous, contemporary piece that everyone comments on! I am so grateful to be able to carry a piece of my family’s past into our future.
